DataFlight
Airline fees and baggage rules change, and every figure here carries the date it was checked against the airline's own published page. Always confirm with the airline before you fly. Flight search is provided by Kiwi.com and this site is paid a commission on bookings made through it, at no cost to you and with no effect on what is published here.

The fare, and everything they add to it.

The fare is not the price.

A 29 euro ticket becomes 94 by the time the bag, the seat and the check-in are paid for, and none of that appears until the last screen. This site publishes the second number — what each airline charges on top, with the date each figure was checked — and what you are owed when the flight does not happen as sold.

Compare fares first

Search across airlines, then check what each one charges on top — the pages below are where the second number lives.

Search results are provided by Kiwi.com. If you book through them this site is paid a commission, at no cost to you and with no effect on the prices you are shown or on anything published here.

Nineteen million searches a month are one question: will this bag be allowed on. Another five million ask what the airline charges for it. Almost every page answering them is an airline's own, written by the party collecting the fee.

What is here

Cabin and checked baggage rules and what the dimensions actually mean, including why a bag that flew last month is refused this month. Every charge that lands after the fare — seats, changes, cancellations, priority, payment surcharges — and which of them are avoidable. The compensation regimes that apply to most flights people take from Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States, what each is worth, and how to claim without giving a third of it away.

How this site is paid

Flight search here is provided by Kiwi.com, and a booking made through it pays this site a commission. It costs you nothing, it changes no price, and it changes nothing published on these pages — the fee tables are what the airlines charge, and an airline that charges more is written down as charging more.

What is not here

No fee quoted without the date it was checked and a link to the airline page it came from, because a baggage fee is a figure that was true once. No claim that any airline is best, which depends on a route and a date this site does not know. And no ranking of anywhere by anything other than the numbers printed beside it.

Cabin bags, checked bags, and the rules behind the numbers

Nineteen million searches a month are people trying to find out whether their bag will fit. What the dimensions mean, how they are enforced, why two airlines measuring the same bag disagree, and what happens at the gate when it does not fit.
