What this site publishes, where the figures come from, and how it is paid.
DataFlight publishes what a flight costs after the fare: baggage allowances and their charges, seat and change fees, and the compensation owed when a flight is delayed, cancelled or overbooked.
Where the figures come from
Every fee on this site is taken from the airline's own published page and carries the date it was checked. That date is not decoration. Airline fees change without notice and sometimes dramatically — Southwest charged nothing for checked bags for decades and now does — so a page that states a figure without saying when it was true is a page that will eventually be wrong in a way that costs a reader money at a counter.
How this site is paid
Flight search is provided by Kiwi.com through an affiliate arrangement, and a booking made through it pays this site a commission at no cost to the traveller. The fee tables are unaffected: they record what each airline charges, an airline that charges more is recorded as charging more, and nothing on these pages moves because of who pays for a booking.
On compensation claims
Claim companies take between a quarter and a half of a successful claim. The claim can be made directly with the airline for nothing, and these pages explain how. Where a claim is genuinely complex — a refused airline, a case heading for a court — a company earns its share; where it is a delayed flight with a clear cause, it does not. That is said here plainly and it is said against this site's own interest.
What it will not publish
No fee without a date and a source. No airline named as best, since that depends on a route, a date and a bag. No claim about what a fare will do next, because nobody knows. And no page that exists only to carry a booking link.
